Mike Romano pitched six scoreless innings to lead 12th-seeded Passaic Valley to a 2-0 win over fifth-seeded Bernards in the first round of the North Jersey, Section 2, Group 2 tournament in Bernardsville. Romano surrendered just three hits, with eight strikeouts and no walks to help extend Passaic Valley's (12-15-1) winning streak to four. C.J. Georgiou pitched a perfect seventh inning to secure the victory. Passaic Valley will face fourth-seeded Ridgefield Park in the quarterfinals. Dylan Cannataro went 2-for-3 with an RBI, while Giancarlo Peluso hit an RBI double in the seventh inning for a key insurance run.
